TikTok Download Not Working? Find the Cause

Troubleshoot TikTok MP4 downloads: full URLs, unavailable sources, quality caps, 100 MiB files, busy servers, expired links and device storage.

Identify which stage failed

A TikTok download can fail before processing, while the server retrieves a source, or during the final transfer to your device. Those are different problems. Start by looking at the visible message and whether a Download video button ever appeared. ClipHarbor's purpose is to request an available MP4 without a platform watermark, but neither public access nor an unmarked source is guaranteed. The tool does not fix a deleted post, make a private video public or erase text already embedded in the original.

Before trying multiple fixes, confirm that you own the content or have permission to save it. Then open the original post in a normal browser. If you cannot view it publicly, the downloader may not be able to retrieve it either. Do not send login cookies or account passwords to support. ClipHarbor's supported workflow uses public URLs only. A method that requires your private credentials is outside the current service and is not a troubleshooting step we ask you to take.

Fix an invalid video URL

The expected address points to one video: https://www.tiktok.com/@creator/video/123, with the correct creator and numeric video identifier. A profile, hashtag, search page, live stream or audio page is not supported. Short share links are also not accepted by the current validator. Open a short link in a browser, wait for the full post to load and copy its final video address. Be careful not to copy surrounding text, Markdown brackets or an incomplete address from a message.

Only the supported HTTPS TikTok video hosts and path shape are accepted. Tracking parameters are removed by the server; they are not needed to identify a video. A different website containing the word TikTok is not a valid source. If the Paste link button cannot read your clipboard, paste directly with the keyboard or a long press in the field. Clipboard permission is separate from whether the video URL is valid, so you do not need to reset every browser setting to solve a paste problem.

Understand source and processing errors

A public page can exist while its media is unavailable to the server. Regional restrictions, temporary source failures, changed delivery URLs or datacenter access controls can prevent extraction. The server also refuses sources labeled as watermarked. If no suitable combined audio-and-video MP4 remains, a request may fail rather than silently handing you a branded fallback. The site does not perform pixel-level watermark removal or promise to retrieve every post.

Processing is limited to two minutes, and only a small number of extraction requests run at once. A busy response is a reason to wait and try later, not to click repeatedly. Technical rate limits protect the service from overload. We do not sell a claim that watching an ad unlocks a source, and there is no paid bypass inside the form. If a source becomes unavailable, retrying under the same conditions can give the same result even when your device and network are working correctly.

Reconsider a restrictive quality choice

The numbered quality options cap source height in pixels. They do not tell the server to transcode a new file at that height. A post may have an acceptable source for Best available but no matching combined MP4 under 480 or 720 pixels high. Try Best available if a smaller cap fails, provided the resulting file is suitable for your data and storage limits. Conversely, a lower cap can help with transfer size only when a smaller suitable source really exists.

Do not interpret a portrait video's height as a landscape HD guarantee. A 720-by-1280 portrait source can be labeled 1280p in the current result. That tells you its height, not whether it contains the detail you expect from a 1920-by-1080 landscape recording. Compression and the original upload matter too. If a download looks soft, selecting a larger number cannot recreate information that was never present in the source. The quality guide gives concrete examples of these distinctions.

Check the size limit and final transfer

ClipHarbor rejects files larger than 100 MiB. It checks during the download and validates the completed file. Duration alone does not determine file size: a short high-bitrate clip can be larger than a longer compressed one. Choosing a different existing source may help, but the tool does not automatically shorten or recompress a video to fit. A file that exceeds the limit is not a reason to repeatedly submit the same source and expect a different byte count.

If a result appeared but the browser download failed, check storage space, the browser's download list and network connectivity. The temporary link lasts ten minutes. After it expires, submit the original public video URL to prepare another link. A completed local file is not deleted when the server link expires. On phones, look in Downloads or Files rather than assuming every saved MP4 immediately appears in the camera roll or media gallery.

Distinguish playback from downloading

A video preview can make a successful file transfer look like the browser did not save anything. Use the browser's download controls and inspect its completed-download list. A file that opens in one player but not an editing app may have a compatibility issue rather than a failed transfer. MP4 is a container and does not guarantee support in every application. Keep the original file while investigating, and do not assume that renaming its extension converts the media.

If you need support, describe the stage: URL rejected, processing failed, link expired, transfer interrupted or file would not play. Include your browser name, selected quality and visible error. The Report a problem link opens your email app; it does not silently send your video address or browsing history. Avoid passwords, private links and unnecessary personal information. A clear report helps distinguish a service issue from a source restriction without asking you to weaken your account security.

Questions about this guide

Why can I view a video but not download it?

The public page may load while media access from the server is restricted or no suitable source is available.

Why does a lower quality fail?

The options cap source height; they do not generate new encodings. A suitable MP4 below that cap may not exist.

What should I send to support?

Report your browser, chosen quality, stage and visible error. Do not include passwords or private account details.
